Well Ferrari have done it again. I must say I thought they did it very tactfully, but obviously Massa did not think so. He could have staged it better, but chose to make it very clear to everyone. Loved the press conference, and the atmosphere inside the team must rival Red Bull. I hope Ferrari thinks it was worth $100,000 to get 7 points more for Alonso, that works out at about $14,000 a point. Probably cheap compared to what they spend on the cars. It will be interesting to see what the World Council does about it.

Personally I think the rule is silly, everyone knows that it happens, and as Mark Hughes said the other week in Autosport, as long as it is not done in a way that disrespects  the sport and the fans, as it was in Austria in 2002.

Race itself was actually all over at the first corner, not as interesting as those of late. McLaren are still not as quick as Red Bull, although they finished in front of Webber, so what does that tell us. It will be interesting to know where Ferrari found the extra pace, and whether it translates into future races. The gearbox woes of the new teams continue. It's hard to understand why they cannot work this out. I can only presume it is in the hydraulics and not in the box itself. Sir Richard Branson must be wondering what he has got himself into.

Interesting that the race did not sell out with six German drivers. It seems to go against my theory that the US needs a top driver to really make a US F1 GP "work." Maybe it is a wealth of riches, the Germans have got used to winning with Michael, but it is probably more to do with the cost of the tickets. Overseas, i.e. not in the US, the cost of F1 tickets is very expensive, $300 +, at a time when a lot of people are hurting for money.

Not a good weekend for the US drivers in GP3, but it is all a learning experience, and they are at least in the show.

Over at Laguna Lorenzo stole pole at the death, but it should be a good race.

Sad to see the Tour finish and Lance retire from it. I'm sure we will see him at the Tour with his team, and he will continue his amazing work for cancer victims.

I am a very fortunate man, a wonderful wife and so many great friends. My Mother once said that I had no friends, what she meant was where I was living at the time, and it was true, but I told her I had hundreds of great friends, they were just spread all over the world! Facebook tells me I have visited over 650 cities on five continents, so you get the picture.

What is truly great is that in the way of good friends we do not need to talk every day, or see each other for years, but we can reconnect as if we have never been apart. I first met Steve Hallam when he was working with Ayrton Senna in Adelaide in '85, and we have reconnected now we both live and work in the US.  And I continue to make new friends courtesy of the internet, with this blog connecting to people in over 45 countries.

Apparently Mark Webber is happy he and Vettel can be friends and will now have parity of equipment and strategy. We will see as we are in Germany this weekend and who would you want to win? Rain made for an interesting first practice with Sutil quickest and some of the big names making mistakes, especially Hamilton who took all four corners off the car. Button struggled with the new diffuser, but apparently was running on full tanks to look for a race set up and finished fifteenth fastest. Alonso ended up just in front of Vettel, with the Mercedes boys going well with Nico just in front of Michael yet again. McLaren will have a lot of work to do Saturday to make up for today's problems, and are still deciding whether to keep the exhaust diffuser for the race. As usual rain has made for an interesting weekend, except for Mr. Yamamoto who is a second slower than his team mate and last, nice one HRT.

Lots of racing this weekend, ALMS at Lime Rock, MotoGP at Laguna, and the end of the Tour de France. NASCAR is at Indianapolis with Jacques Villeneuve making a cameo appearance. It took them a few days but NASCAR has finally penalized both Edwards and Keselowski for their contact last weekend, about time.

On the Arizona front we now have a logo and I will share it with you when we go public in a week or so. Waiting on the promo video and we can now finish the web site with the logo, but it will evolve with the project.

Rossi says he will not win at Laguna Seca this weekend, he is saving that for a later race, so Lorenzo and the rest of the boys need to make hay etc. It will be interesting to see how Roger Hayden goes on a track he will know better than most and on a bike that has shown good form this year with de Puniet.

Red Bull are still at it. You must be getting tired of me writing about them , but they cannot help themselves. A week and a half later, and now the "engineer" come out and says Mark did not like that wing anyway.

On the home front the house is starting to look sorted, just need to recycle the paper and boxes now so we can walk around. Yesterday's meeting turned out to be defined by when people thought "tomorrow" was, so it is today. I'll update you tomorrow, that would be Wednesday, on the project.

Looked at the web site for the new project. Nearly ready. Going to be in tune with the Spanish heritage of the area and the climate, Sol Real (Royal Sun) Motorsport Resort. Architecture will be Spanish Mission. Project will be very stylish. Need to agree on a logo so we can finalize the website, and just a few tweaks. Really hard to find good photos of country club type tracks, but my good buddy Greg Sarni has helped out. Need to catch up with what has happened since my little detour via Louisiana.

Next week will be busy with setting up the hanger for meeting prospective members, and actually starting sessions with them to explain the project. Just heard that the nearby casino has committed to building a new $20m tower as an addition, so someone else has confidence in the local economy, and it is a great amenity for our members. They will of course prefer our clubhouse, but it is nice to have options.

On the motorsport scene it seems Red Bull management cannot learn when to shut up. After saying they are all friends again, Helmut Marko comes out and says he does not know what Mark wants, he is in a great team and winning races. Vettel should be the one complaining due to all his mechanical problems. If you do not understand what Mark wants Helmut then you should do as Hans Stuck suggested and retire. Jos Verstappen said he would have trod on the wing so neither of them could use it, Go Jos!

Ferrari say they were not told "immediately" to let Kubica back past, Charlie Whiting took a whole 1 minute and 55 seconds. Wow! And of course Charlie only told them his opinion based on what he thought the Stewards would do, and he was correct, so stop whining Ferrari. If you had taken his advice, or better still do it your self straight away, Alonso would have re-passed Kubica easily as the Renault had a problem, and he would have been in a great position.

So Yamamoto did such a great job at Silverstone that he is going to replace Chandook for the next race. I guess HRT   think that if they keep giving him rides his wallet will weigh less each time so he will get quicker? Buemi denies he has re-signed with Torro Rosso and says the transfer market is still open, but where is he going to get a better ride? Does he know something we do not? Does he think a seat is coming available at the senior Red Bull Team? On a similar note Virgin hope to retain Timo Glock, but what seats are open to Timo, as good as he is? Nico Rosberg's new team mate?

Valentino Rossi amazed everyone with his pace yesterday at the German Motorcycle GP, finishing seventh fastest. His fit team mate, Lorenzo, could only manage one place better. Medical science and the willingness of these guys to ride with pain is unbelievable. I saw it with Wayne Rainey, Wayne Gardner, and Mick Doohan, the mark of a true champion, and basically anyone in this sport.

House in total chaos, boxes everywhere, and the truck coming this morning, so short and sweet today.

The fall out from Red Bull continues with Horner saying he regrets not talking to Mark Webber before they took the wing off Mark's car to give to Vettel. What was going on that was so important you could not spend two minutes explaining that? I can only imagine my reaction if I walked in the garage and saw that going on without being told anything! Do these people know nothing about managing people, especially people as intense as top sportsmen. They need to call Phil Jackson for some tips, or just read his book.

Alexander Rossi finished third in the GP3 race at Silverstone the weekend, having a great first season, and someone in the US needs to make sure he has the backing to move on from here in a top team. Cypher?

Well done Valentino Rossi, tested on a superbike the weekend and lapped as quick as the WSBK guys. Just do not fall again!
